Theme:
Pray that our evangelistic desires would align with His and that we’d see fruit
When evangelizing, there can be the distraction to focus on serving our own validation or feeling good about ourselves. The scripture above reminds me that we witness to others for God’s glory and not for our own, as it is His calling to us. And that it is also vital to lean on God for His power. In doing so, we are empowered to live out our calling of being witnesses and bring glory to God. The other goal of evangelizing is to, of course, bring others to Christ. And while it is the Spirit that does the work in the hearts of those who hear, we must pray for them as well, that their hearts may be open to receive Christ so the kingdom of God may grow.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I thank you for transforming me so I may be worthy of Your calling. I pray that You would prompt me and our whole church to seek opportunities to share the good news of Your gift of salvation to us to those who do not know. Inspire us to continually search for these opportunities to be Your witnesses and give us the words to speak so we may help advance Your kingdom for Your glory and not for our own. Amen.
