January 31 – Pray that we are filled with thanksgiving

Theme:

Pray that we are filled with thanksgiving for the work that God has done!

Devotional:

How often have we felt alone and overwhelmed amongst the barrage of choices and decisions we need to make every day? Most of the time we can decide easily, without much fuss or thought behind it. When it comes to determining something that can change or alter the way we live, such as switching jobs, moving to a different town or state, choosing to send your children to school versus homeschooling, choosing the right path of care for an elderly parent or sick child, etc, it can cause stress, tension, and unease. That is, however, if we attempt to make those decisions without the guidance and counsel of our faithful God. Psalm 32:8 lovingly states God will instruct us and teach us in the way we should go. He is close and keeping a loving eye on us during these times of uncertainty, as well as times of contentedness.

Prayer:

Lord, may we seek you in all situations, but especially when we have important decisions to make. May we as a church look to You for instruction on the way we should move forward as your hands and feet in our local community and beyond.
