Pray that we encourage and build one another up this year.
“How are you doing?”
“Good. How are you?”
“Good. What makes you good?”
Whoa, whoa, whoa. That is not the script. “I’m good.” “You’re good.” We keep moving on. We’ve been taught that since birth. No ad libbing.
Well, this is Emily’s trademarked response (its ok, she’ll let you use it too…). I’ve known people that avoided her for fear of being asked this question.
But you know what, how often is good really the answer? I hope often! I hope we truly live resting in God and content in all our circumstances.
But sometimes we’re not.
And others have heavy things on their hearts too, and how often do we actually take the chance to come alongside our brothers and sisters? We are called to carry each other’s burdens. To sharpen each other’s iron. In 1 Thessalonians 3:10 says, we are called to pray earnestly for those around us for what is “lacking in our faith.” We don’t do this because we have it all figured out, we do this because we know who does and we have faith that He is there to walk with us through the good times and the tough ones.
Prayer: Take some time to pray for others around you
*Extra Credit: Text a few people today to ask for prayer requests and pray for them
**Bonus Extra Credit: Pick someone in the church directory you don’t know and do the same
