Pray for a knowledge of God’s will
In Colossians 1, Paul shares how he prays for the church. One time when I was reflecting on this passage God impressed on me that this is how I should be praying for our church as well. Rather than focusing on circumstances, Paul prays that believers would be filled with the knowledge of God’s will.
This is not only about specific decisions but about understanding how to live in a way that pleases God. As we grow in this knowledge through God’s Word and the Spirit’s wisdom, our lives bear fruit in every good work. As we begin this season of prayer and fasting, Paul’s prayer gives us a helpful model for what to ask God to do among us (see Colossians 1:3–14).
Prayer:
Lord, fill us with the knowledge of Your will, with wisdom and spiritual understanding, so that we may live lives pleasing to You and bear fruit in every good work. Amen.
